Monday opened with two giant money moves in AI, and a quiet warning in crypto. Anthropic, the company behind Claude, filed to go public. Meta announced a plan to raise up to 95 billion dollars by selling stock. Bitcoin slipped back under 80,000 dollars.

Three stories. One pattern.

The AI race is now being paid for in public, and the bill is getting bigger.

The market stopped pretending cash flow pays for everything

Meta said on Monday it plans to raise up to 95 billion dollars. First, about 35 billion dollars in offerings launched now: about 22.5 billion dollars of Class A common stock through forward sale agreements, plus about 12.5 billion dollars of mandatory convertible preferred stock. Second, a planned at the market program of up to 60 billion dollars, selling new non voting Class C shares, expected to start in the first quarter of 2027. That second part is not final yet.

Read that carefully. The 95 billion dollar figure is a plan, not money already in the bank. The Class A forward sales do not bring Meta cash right away. Meta gets paid when those agreements settle, on dates on or before November 19, 2027. Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom have indicated nonbinding interest in up to 5 billion dollars of the Class A shares combined.

Meta expects to spend 135 billion to 145 billion dollars on capital projects in 2026. Cash flow alone is no longer covering that kind of build.

What happens when even the richest companies have to sell stock to keep building?

The Federal Reserve meets October 27 and 28, and the expectation is a pause, not a pivot. In a Reuters poll of 100 economists conducted October 16 to 20, 94 expected the Fed to hold the federal funds rate in a 3.75 percent to 4.00 percent range at this meeting. All 100 expected a rate hike in December. Money is available, but it is expensive, and investors now ask who pays, and when the returns arrive.

Bitcoin: slipping under 80K while the big money moves

Live numbers as I write, from CoinGecko: Bitcoin 79,913 dollars, down 0.73 percent over the last 24 hours. Ethereum 2,311.71 dollars, down 1.62 percent. Total crypto market cap 2.70 trillion dollars, down 2.46 percent over 24 hours. Bitcoin dominance 59.44 percent, meaning nearly 60 cents of every crypto dollar sits in Bitcoin. The Fear and Greed index reads 44, Fear.

On Saturday, Bitcoin was holding 80,000 dollars. On Monday, it is just under that line. That is not a crash call. It is a level lost.

Does a round number change the value, or only the mood?

Round numbers move headlines. They do not change what Bitcoin is, or what you are building. If your plan only works above 80,000 dollars, it was never a plan. Build on skills and cash flow you control, and let price be noise you watch, not a signal you obey.

AI news: Anthropic files to go public, and the numbers are public too

The most significant AI development of the last 24 to 48 hours is not a new model. It is a filing.

Anthropic publicly filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 26, 2026. It plans to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT. The number of shares and the price range have not yet been determined.

What is an S-1, in plain terms? It is the formal document a company files when it wants to sell stock to the public. It lays out the business, the finances, the risks, and who controls what. A filed S-1 is not yet effective. Until it becomes effective, the shares cannot be sold. Filing is the starting gun, not the finish line.

Anthropic is the company behind Claude, an AI assistant used for writing, coding, and business work, plus Claude Code for development work. This filing makes Anthropic the first big AI lab to put its full finances in front of public investors, ahead of OpenAI.

The numbers inside need to be read correctly. Revenue for the first 6 months of 2026 was 16.3 billion dollars, up from about 1.2 billion dollars in the same period a year earlier. That is roughly 14 times growth. The net loss for the same period was 80.7 billion dollars. Most of that loss, about 72.4 billion dollars, was a noncash accounting charge tied to the rising value of convertible notes and similar instruments as the company’s valuation climbed. It is not the same as 72.4 billion dollars of cash walking out the door.

Headlines will shout the 80.7 billion dollar loss. Builders should ask a second question: how much of this is cash cost, and how much is accounting tied to valuation? The filing lets you separate the two.

Control matters too. A founder controlled share class will hold 50.1 percent of the voting power, and its Long Term Benefit Trust will hold shares that let it elect and remove most of the board. Public investors may own a piece of the economics without owning control. For the first time, the economics of a frontier AI lab are on the public record, in one document. You can read it.

What you can do with this today

You do not need to buy a share, or build a frontier model. Learn to read a filing the way a builder reads a blueprint. Try this today, in 30 minutes:

  1. Go to the SEC EDGAR database and search for Anthropic and its S-1 filing.

  2. Read the business section first, before the headlines. Write down what the company actually sells, and who pays for it.

  3. Write down 3 numbers on one page: revenue growth, cash costs versus accounting charges, and who controls the votes.

  4. Apply those same 3 numbers to your own idea. What do you sell? What does it cost in cash? Who decides?

That one page is your scorecard. If you cannot fill it in for your own idea, you do not have a business yet. You have an interest. Interests become businesses when you put numbers and decisions on paper.

So what do you build from here?

Start small and stay honest. Pick one problem you understand, one audience you can reach, and one offer you can deliver this week. Learn one skill that makes that offer better, ship something small, get feedback from a real person, and improve it. Do not wait for a 95 billion dollar raise, an IPO, or a Bitcoin price to give you permission.

Here is the uncomfortable truth: the AI race is now funded with public money, supplier money, and borrowed money, and all of it comes due in results. Hype will not pay that bill. Work will. So read the filing, fill in your scorecard, and build the small thing well.
